What is Ectropion?
Ectropion is the outward turning of the eyelids.

What are the symptoms of Ectropion?
A patient with ectropion may experience symptoms like redness, watering, irritation in the eyes. They may have the feeling of the eye being full of tears at all times. Some patients may notice outward turned eyelids.



What are the causes of Ectropion?
Ectropion may develop in adults due to the normal ageing process (involutional), after injuries (cicatricial), after surgeries, or due to paralysis of the facial nerve (Bell’s palsy).

What is the treatment for Ectropion?
Treatment for ectropion is primarily surgical. Surgery is done to correct the position of the eyelids by turning them inwards.
